Tesla's Full Self-Driving Feature Saves a Life: A True Story

In the early hours of April 2nd, a life-changing event unfolded for a military veteran in serious need of medical attention. This is the true story of how Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature played a critical role in saving a life.

FSD has incredible potential for autonomous vehicle technology in Tesla cars and in other EVs

It was 2:00 am, and Max Paul Franklin from Asheville, North Carolina, found himself alone, and in a precarious situation. He was severely dehydrated, with a dangerously high blood glucose level of 670 due to a malfunction in his insulin pump. With no time to spare, he turned to his Tesla Model Y, equipped with the newly unlocked FSD capability.

Max engaged the FSD feature with a click on the steering column stalk. His Tesla Model Y navigated the 13-mile journey through the rain from his home to the Veteran's Administration’s Hospital Emergency Room without intervention from the driver. Upon arrival, the Tesla even offered to park itself autonomously, allowing the Max to seek immediate medical attention.

Despite suffering a mild heart attack, Max left the hospital without restrictions on his exercise regimen. This incredible and timely outcome is a testament to the swift and efficient response facilitated by the Tesla vehicle. It is also a testament to the dedicated medical team at the VA Hospital.

As an owner of luxury vehicles from various brands, Max said he can confidently say that Tesla stands out as the pinnacle of automotive innovation today. The lifesaving capabilities of the FSD feature in critical moments prove its superiority over traditional gasoline vehicles.

Max compares the transition from traditional vehicles to Tesla's FSD functionality to upgrading from a basic landline phone to a smartphone. As a resident of a solar-powered home, he has also enjoyed the cost-saving benefits of owning an electric vehicle powered by the sun. He has saved nearly $1,000 on energy for 7,000 miles.

Max extended his gratitude to Elon Musk in a post on X on April 9th for his "crazy erratic leadership" in advancing technology that is more than just transportation. As someone who shares Elon's place "on the spectrum," Max said he is particularly appreciative of Elon Musk’s commitment to excellence and innovation.

This true story reminds us of the potential of autonomous vehicle technology to save lives and change the world for the better.

Most people agree with Max: Elon Musk's leadership is critical for continued innovation in the automotive, space, travel, brain-computer interface, and social media/payments industries.
